Our Casualty teams provide a full, expert service in defending public (PL) and employers' liability (EL) claims, across the private sector and the public sector as well as handling travel related claims.
Weightmans' team is second-to-none in providing defendant litigation services in these and other specialist Casualty areas. We operate on a national basis with dedicated commercial insurance and public sector teams.
Working in a team dedicated to some of our biggest insurer clients, you will be responsible, under appropriate supervision, for the day to day management of your own varied caseload.
You will also assist Partners and other team members in a wide range of claims, on behalf of various corporate bodies and their insurers. Tasks will include running and assisting with a large range of pre litigated and litigated casualty claims which will include international travel claims, dealing with Pre-Action Disclosure applications, Stage 3 hearings and Infant Approvals, preparing witness statements, undertaking legal and factual research, drafting instructions to Counsel and experts, preparing reports to clients, preparing for and attending court hearings, attending client meetings and responding promptly and accurately to correspondence and telephone enquiries from clients and other parties.

About YouYou will have previous experience and a genuine and demonstrable interest in the above area of work. We also require you to have:
- An ability to manage a caseload of non-litigated and litigated claims including but not limited to EL, PL and Travel claims.
- Control Case Manager diary and action lists
- Attend at court hearings as appropriate
- Draft various documents such as letters and reports
- Satisfy standards of client care in accordance with guidelines, directions and SLAs
- Complete Client and firm MI procedures
- Achieve set financial and chargeable targets
- Comply with relevant rules, policies and procedures
- Keep up to date with legal developments

You will have previous experience and a genuine and demonstrable interest in the above area of work. We also require you to have:
- A proven track record of managing EL/PL personal injury claims, with a demonstrable understanding of the law relating property damage and negligence claims.
- In depth knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules.
- Experience in drafting documents including witness statements, instructions and reports.
- Experience in managing cases in a cost efficient and commercial manner.
- Ability to achieve set financial and chargeable targets.
- Ability to analyse information.
- Good communication skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and team working skills.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
