Job Description:

Head of Commercial - Regulatory, Housing and Litigation Legal Team

Location: Greater Manchester

Working: Hybrid or Remote

Duration: 3 months +

Venn Group is working with a Local Authority based in Greater Manchester to source an interim Head of Commercial (Regulatory, Housing and Litigation).

This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a team within a successful Legal Services department. In this role, you will be an integral part of a professional legal team delivering legal advice and support to all aspects of the Council's services.

Key duties:

This exciting position will be managing a team of 9, including Senior Solicitors, Solicitors, Legal Officers, and Apprentices. The team covers a wide range of areas, including Contracts, Civil and Criminal Litigation, Prosecutions, Employment, and Housing.

The successful candidate will have expertise and be able to handle a caseload in at least one, preferably two of the above areas.  You will be responsible for a personal, smaller caseload of the more complex matters and will be responsible for supporting the team, including with work allocation.
 

Ideal requirements:

The ideal candidate is someone who can demonstrate strong leadership skills and be confident and robust in managing difficult situations. You will be a team player, have a flexible approach to work and possess strong client care skills and be able to market the council's services effectively and efficiently.

You will be a qualified Solicitor/Barrister/ Chartered Legal Executive with a current Practising Certificate and experience in a local government setting.
