Government Public Law Litigation Lawyer

£31.81ph PAYE (£61,200 annual equivalent)

Locum, initial 12 month Contract with the likelihood of extension

London

A Central Government Legal Department are looking for an experienced Public Law Litigation Lawyer or Planning litigation lawyer to join a team that deal with complex and interesting case matter. Our client is looking for passionate individuals to join their dynamic and growing legal Department, and successfully assist and deliver a wide range of complex litigation matters.

As a Public Law Litigation Lawyer you will be working within a team which is dedicated to its clients and supportive of its team members.

Key responsibilities of the Public Law Litigation Lawyer

  • Conduct of a complex Public law and/or Planning litigation caseload.
  • Complying with tight Court and client deadlines.
  • Attending Court hearings with Counsel including in the Regional Courts.
  • Drafting detailed advice on legal merits, risks and litigation strategy.
  • Drafting detailed instructions to Counsel.
  • Assisting colleagues with their caseloads when necessary.
  • Assisting with the team's knowledge management/sharing objectives and providing input into client legal awareness projects.
  • Attending and contributing to team meetings.
  • Achieving personal chargeable hours targets.

Required skills and experience of the Public Law Litigation Lawyer

  • Qualified Solicitor or Barrister in a Common Law Country
  • Strong Public Law experience is essential
  • Litigation experience is essential
  • Ability to meet time and billing targets is essential
  • 2 years Post Qualifying Experience
