Job Description:

£46,968 - £62,766 depending on the level of experience

Croydon is London's second largest borough - full of brilliant and diverse people, businesses, and places. As a council we are re going through tremendous change radically reshaping and renewing our organisation as a result of financial challenges. We are essentially building a brand-new council - one that is focused on getting things right for its residents, while delivering very differently and within a sustainable financial envelope.

This is a fantastic opportunity for lawyers who are looking for a new and exciting role. Ideally you will have local government experience, but we also welcome applications from those who come from the private sector. We are looking for a full time Contract Lawyer (1.0FTE) and a part time lawyer (0.6FTE, 3 days a week) to join our Corporate, Commercial & Planning legal team and play a key leading role in the successful delivery of quality legal services to the Council. The successful candidate will be responsible for a varied and intellectually challenging caseload in relation to contract and procurement matters.

You will be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive (CILEX), with at least 4 years PQE or a minimum of 3 years PQE if the Law Society Diploma in Local Government Law (or similar relevant qualification) is held. The grade is based on level of experience.

About the role

This role requires working with an experienced team in the provision of legal advice and drafting of contracts to enable the Council to deliver on its projects and corporate plans including its extensive transformation and regeneration.
Please specify which of the two positions you are applying for when outlining how your experience and skills meet the requirements for this role.
