Calderdale Council is seeking motivated Solicitors to join its established and dynamic Legal Services team. Discover a role in Legal Services at Calderdale Council
 
We are seeking to recruit an experienced qualified Solicitor to join our Planning & Highways Team. 
 
You will have in depth knowledge and experience of planning law, highways law, rights of way and road traffic law. 

You will be capable of:
  • Advising clients on a wide range of high-level complex and routine cases in relation to planning law, highways law, rights of way and road traffic law, ensuring compliance with relevant legislative requirements and the Council’s own policies.
  • Handling a high caseload with little supervision and able to advise on and draft planning agreements and highway agreements (including section 106 agreements, section 278 agreements and section 38 agreements), traffic regulation orders, rights of way and other associated footpath orders, including advising on other such associated documents, orders and notices, as required. 
  • Attend and advise at Planning Committee and Highways Governing Body. 
You will need to be skilled at providing concise and clear advice, be well-organised and have the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

The role is a hybrid role meaning a balance of home working and office-based working. The successful candidate will be primarily working remotely but will be required to attend Planning Committee in person and be in the office some days as required.  The office is based in the centre of Halifax. 
 
Calderdale will reimburse the post holders required professional membership, annually.
 
We may utilise digital interview methods.
