Croydon is London's second largest borough-full of brilliant and diverse people, businesses, and places. As a council we're going through tremendous change radically reshaping and renewing our organisation as a result of financial challenges. We are essentially building a brand new council-one that is focused on getting things right for its residents, while delivering very differently and within a sustainable financial envelope.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is looking for a new and exciting role. We are looking for a full time Head of Housing & Litigation Law to lead the Housing & Litigation legal team and play a key strategic role in the successful delivery of quality legal services to the Council.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience managing and supervising teams and individual performances effectively; as well as a proven track record of building and sustaining effective relationships with departments, senior leadership and Members.

The successful candidate will be responsible for a varied and intellectually challenging caseload. The ideal candidate will have the expertise to work across all areas of Housing, Litigation and Local Government Law, including significant experience managing high value and complex matters.

You will be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive (CILEX), with significant experience in the areas of Housing, Litigation & Local Government Law. Ideally you will have worked in local government, but we also welcome applications from those who come from the private sector and work with the local government sector.

Croydon Council is a hybrid working organisation and supports flexible and remote working. This role has minimum office attendance requirements.
