Job Description:
£51,429 - £58,140 per annum
Keep our bi-borough legal service running smoothly – and help us deliver for the people who rely on it.
Our legal team plays an essential role in supporting services across the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster City Council – from housing and social care to planning and corporate functions. As Practice Manager, you’ll be the person who keeps everything behind the scenes running as it should.
Working Style:
This is a full-time position (36 hours per week), and you’ll be based in the Borough for three days a week as you will be playing a key role in serving the local community. Whether you’re working on the frontline or behind the scenes, you’ll be part of a dedicated team making a real difference to residents’ lives.
What you’ll be doing:
This is a varied and hands-on role where you’ll manage the operational side of the legal service. You’ll take ownership of our case management system, making sure it’s maintained, developed and used effectively across the team, and support senior leaders by providing accurate, useful management information to guide decisions.
You’ll also manage staff in the Business Support team, help improve internal processes and look for ways we can work more efficiently. Part of your role will involve exploring new technologies and working with other teams to introduce smart solutions – including AI – that make everyday tasks quicker and simpler.
Ultimately, your work will help us build a legal service that’s modern, responsive and focused on making a difference.
What you’ll bring
We’re looking for someone who’s worked in legal practice management before, ideally with a project management qualification and experience of leading teams and projects. You’ll know how to get the best out of systems and processes, and be comfortable working with data to support planning and improvement.
You’ll be confident working with people at all levels – whether you’re supporting legal advisors day to day or providing insight to senior managers. If you’ve worked on service improvement, change management or digital projects, that’s a real plus.
You’ll also understand the importance of inclusion and fairness in service delivery – and bring a calm, practical approach to everything you do.
Why join us
You’ll be part of a committed and collaborative legal team that values each other’s experience and ideas. This is a role where you’ll have space to lead, contribute and grow – and you’ll be supported to build on your strengths and develop your skills along the way.
In this role, you’ll be at the centre of a service that helps the whole Council work better – making a difference not just to colleagues, but to the residents we serve.
Interview details
Interviews for this position will take place week commencing 23rd June and will involve a 45-minute question-based interview as well as a 30-minute assessment, details of which will be given if shortlisted to interview.
