Salary: £37,841 – £52,653 (pro-rata for part-time)

Location: Civic Centre, Esher – Hybrid Working

Hours: 36 (Full-time, or Part-time)

Elmbridge Borough Council is seeking a Legal Officer (Contracts/Generalist) to join our progressive Legal Services team. You’ll play a vital role in delivering high-quality legal advice across contracts, procurement, partnerships, and broader local government matters.

What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Advising on contracts, procurement, redevelopment projects, and grant agreements.
  • Drafting and reviewing legal documents with precision and clarity.
  • Supporting Information Governance and compliance with FOI, EIR, and Data Protection legislation.
  • Attending committee meetings and representing the Council in legal forums.
  • Collaborating with a dynamic team to deliver effective legal solutions.
What We’re Looking For:
  • A qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive.
  • Experience in contract and procurement law, ideally within a local government setting.
  • A proactive, adaptable mindset with a commitment to continuous learning.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
