Grade/Salary: Management Grade A - £58,692 - £60,819 per annum plus an annually reviewable market supplement Market Bar +3 SP51 (£66,378) with an additional £6,388 market supplement

Founded in 2011, the South London Legal Partnership (SLLP) is the in-house legal service for the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames and the London Boroughs of Merton, Richmond upon Thames, Sutton and Wandsworth.

SLLP is committed to being a high performing in-house shared legal service which plays an essential part in the achievement of the priorities and objectives of our five local authorities for the benefit of their communities.

The partnership has 150-160 staff and a turnover of £14 million. Over 1 million people are represented by the constituent councils. Operating at scale has enabled it to recruit and retain excellent staff and to provide a consistently high standard of service to our five Boroughs

We are looking for energetic and enthusiastic applicants, keen to develop their skills in a public sector environment. Please do not be put off if you have limited local government experience – it is your determination to provide a top-class legal service which will matter most.

We are looking for a Senior commercial property lawyer with a proven track record in dealing with commercial property matters relating to asset and portfolio management in a public sector land holdings context be that for development, sale, lease or otherwise.  You will need to be able to demonstrate an ability to provide advice on governance and on all aspects of local authority land dealings. Ideally, you should hold a good understanding of local authority governance.   

The successful candidate will have excellent communication, drafting skills and the ability to provide legal advice to a variety of audiences, including senior officers and Members. This post will have supervisory responsibilities for up to 3 lawyers and so previous experience of supervising staff is desirable.
