£54,986 - £58,701 (includes a 10% market supplement, reviewed annually and paid monthly)

About the role
This role will have responsibility for leading and managing the Council’s Adult Care Law Service under the direction of the Head of Legal Services. You will deliver high-level guidance and support in relation to Adult care and related matters at the highest level to Members and Officers of the Council as well as manage a personal caseload of complex work.

You will have responsibility for service delivery and provision of legal services which will include, but not limited to, the areas of Adult Care and related matters. You will co-ordinate and attend, where appropriate, meetings of the Council’s Boards and Panels and this may entail representing the Head of Legal/Assistant Director of Legal Services on boards and panels.

As Service Manager (Adult Care Law) you will be supported by an In-House Advocate and a Senior Solicitor working a high level caseload of a complex nature.

Our Legal Service is recognised as a key partner in our improvement journey and has received considerable investment and growth. This is an ideal time for a serious property legal professional to join our team which is part of the Property and Commercial team.

About you
You will be a Solicitor, or Barrister entitled to practise in England and Wales, with a current practising certificate; or a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives, with considerable experience
at a senior level.

It is important that you have successful direct people management experience in one or more of the services within the portfolio of this post, including policy development, corporate/strategic planning and managing change.

As a leader it is important that you are able to demonstrate the Rotherham MBC values and possess the interpersonal skills required to be able to build effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders.
