Locum Childcare Lawyer – Full Time – Initial 3 Months+  – Up to £55 per hour Umbrella

Venn Group's specialist Public Sector Legal team are currently recruiting for an experienced Locum Childcare Lawyer to join a Local Authority on an interim basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced childcare lawyer to undertake a varied public law caseload and provide high-quality legal advice and representation within an established legal team.

Role Details:
Position: Locum Childcare Lawyer
Working Arrangement: Full Time, 36 hours per week. Predominantly remote working with office attendance ideally once per week, although flexibility may be considered
Duration: Initial 3 months+, with potential for extension
Rate: Up to £55 per hour Umbrella

Duties may include:

• Providing legal advice and representation on childcare matters
• Managing public law care proceedings
• Advising on adoption, child protection and fostering matters
• Undertaking legal research in relation to childcare law
• Preparing briefs and instructions to Counsel
• Attending legal planning meetings where required
• Working closely with officers and other professionals involved in safeguarding and childcare matters
• Managing a varied caseload and progressing matters efficiently within required timescales

Candidate Requirements:

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive with strong childcare law experience
• Experience handling public law care proceedings
• Knowledge of adoption, child protection and fostering matters
• Previous Local Government or wider Public Sector experience is highly desirable
• Strong drafting, advocacy and case management skills
• Ability to provide clear and practical legal advice
• Ability to manage a busy caseload independently
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
