J98275Locum Procurement & Contracts Lawyer – Full Time – Initial 3 Months+ – Southeast based Local Authority Venn Group's specialist Public Sector Legal team are currently recruiting for an experienced
Locum Procurement & Contracts Lawyer to join a Local Authority on an interim basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercial lawyer to undertake a varied non-contentious caseload, advising on procurement, contracts and associated corporate matters within an established public sector legal team.
Role Details:Position: Locum Procurement & Contracts Lawyer
Working Arrangement: Full Time, 37 hours per week, with office attendance required 3 days per week
Duration: Initial 3 months+, with potential for extension
Rate: £60.00 Umbrella per hour
Duties may include:- Providing legal advice and assistance on procurement, contracts and commercial matters
- Managing a varied caseload of non-contentious procurement and contractual work
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts, agreements and associated documentation
- Advising senior officers and internal stakeholders on complex and higher-risk commercial matters
- Supporting procurement exercises and advising on legal and procedural requirements
- Handling associated company law matters and ancillary non-contentious transactions
- Attending meetings and committees to provide legal advice where required
- Keeping up to date with relevant developments in procurement and commercial law
- Supporting the development and delivery of the wider legal service
- Assisting with quality assurance and accreditation requirements where appropriate
- Managing competing priorities and progressing matters efficiently with minimal supervision
Candidate Requirements:
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive with relevant commercial legal experience
- Strong experience in procurement and contract law
- Experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements
- Previous Local Government or wider Public Sector experience is highly desirable
- Ability to advise confidently on complex and higher-risk non-contentious matters
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with senior officers and stakeholders
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage a varied caseload independently
- Experience of public procurement processes would be highly advantageous
