Locum Housing Litigation Solicitor – 12 months + – Full time, Predominantly Remote Working – Up to £65 per hour Umbrella – Midlands

Position: Locum Housing Litigation Solicitor
Organisation: Housing Association in the Midlands
Duration: 12 months with the possibility of extension thereafter
Working Pattern: Full time
Working Arrangement: Predominantly Remote, occasional office attendance required
Hourly Rate: Up to £65 per hour Umbrella

The ideal candidate will have at experience in handling Housing Litigation matters in the public sector/within a Housing Association

Duties may include:

• Answering a wide variety of housing management queries (mainly contentious but some non-contentious)
• Handling access issues, hoarding/fire/safety, ASB, CCTV via doorbells or phones being posted on social media with derogatory comments, preparation for Crime and Policing Act 2026
• Providing technical legal support to the in-house pre-action disrepair legal team via their team leaders (no management responsibilities)
• Supporting operational staff across the business and external panel solicitors with their issued housing management cases and escalating issues in a timely manner
• Reviewing instruction forms, considering whether the operational colleague has identified the outcome that they wish to achieve, there is sufficient information/documentary evidence available to support the desired outcome, if further investigation is required carrying that out (e.g. PSED, capacity issues/official Solicitor, are they not allowing access to service the boiler because they want it capped and would rather use electricity etc), considering whether the proposed course of action is in the best interests of the client entity (e.g. is possession sought because of a clash of personality between a housing officer and a tenant or is there something else)
