Education Solicitor / Education Lawyer Locum
Location: Fully Remote
Rate: Competitive Hourly Rate
Contract: Temporary / Locum
Working Pattern: Fully Remote
 
The Role
As an Education Lawyer Locum, you will provide specialist legal support to a highly regarded team advising schools, academies, multi-academy trusts, further education institutions and higher education providers. The successful candidate will handle a varied caseload, providing both day-to-day advice and support on complex projects across the education sector.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Advising education clients on a broad range of education law matters
  • Supporting academy conversion, merger and re-brokerage projects
  • Advising schools, academies and multi-academy trusts on governance and regulatory issues
  • Handling SEND matters, admissions, exclusions and safeguarding issues
  • Advising on SEND tribunal matters and complaints handling
  • Delivering practical, commercial and solution-focused legal advice to education providers
 
Skills & Experience Required
Essential:
  • Qualified Solicitor with significant experience in education law
  • Strong understanding of the structure and governance of educational establishments
  • Experience advising on academy conversions, mergers and re-brokerages
  • Knowledge of SEND, admissions, exclusions, safeguarding and complaints procedures
  • Excellent client care, communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and integrate quickly into an established team
 
Desirable:
  • 5+ years' PQE within education law
  • Experience advising schools, academies, MATs, FE colleges and universities
  • Previous locum or interim legal experience
  • Experience supporting strategically important projects and organisational change
