Locum Planning & Highways Lawyer – Part-Time – Remote Working – Initial Contract to March 2027 – Up to £65 per hour umbrellaVenn Group’s specialist legal team are currently recruiting for a Locum Planning & Highways Lawyer to join a Midlands-based Local Authority on an interim basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Planning amd Highways Lawyer to join a supportive team, with the role predominantly focused on planning matters.
The Role: Locum Planning & Highways Lawyer
Duration: Initial contract until March 2027, with potential extensions thereafter
Working Pattern: 22.2 hours per week (3 days), remote working available. Fully remote candidates can be considered, with some attendance at Planning Committees in the Midlands is preferred but not essential
Rate: Up to £65 per hour umbrella
Start: ASAP
Role Responsibilities:- Providing legal advice to Council officers on a range of planning and highways matters
- Supporting the wider planning function
- Managing a predominantly planning-focused caseload
- Opportunity to attend Planning Committees in the Midlands, although this is not essential

Candidate Requirements:
- Proven experience advising on planning law
- Local Government experience highly desirable
- Highways law experience would be advantageous
- Ability to provide clear, practical legal advice and manage a varied caseload independently
