£42,839 - £50,269 per annum

The role is for a dedicated solicitor or legal executive to provide a wide range of civil, criminal and enforcement litigation advice, including, where appropriate, representing the Council at both the County and the Magistrates’ Court.

The ideal candidate needs to be able to demonstrate effective governance, efficient project management, the use of technology to deliver excellent value for money and the ability to interpret legislation and provide associated advice to officers. They will also be able to work under pressure to strict deadlines, motivating and mentoring other members of the legal team, and officers across the Council as appropriate.

Requirements

  • You will be a qualified solicitor, barrister or a legal executive with a current practising certificate
  • Have pre and post qualification experience in litigation law, it would be ideal to have local authority experience, but it is not an absolute must.

Local Government Reorganisation (LGR)

Tendring District Council is part of the wider Greater Essex area that the UK Government has made public its intention to re-organise into five new unitary councils from 1 April 2028.   As this process progresses, we want to reassure all applicants that all employees of Tendring District Council would be transferred to the intended unitary council that would cover the District of Tendring.
