HB Public Law, one of the country’s leading shared local authority legal practices, has an exciting opportunity for ambitious and enthusiastic lawyers to join our Housing & Civil Litigation Team. HB Public Law is an innovative and ambitious Lexcel accredited legal practice serving four local authority clients, schools and other public bodies in London and the home counties. We pride ourselves on delivering a high-quality service and offer a supportive and friendly working environment. 

We are looking for Housing & Civil Litigation Lawyer to advise and have conduct of legal files on behalf of all the clients of HB Public Law, includinglocal authorities, housing associations and schools and to provide advice, representation andundertake research as requested in relation to Housing & Civil litigation matters. The team has a varied caseload including all aspects of housing law, civil litigation, debt recovery, and other matters, including the opportunity to advise councillors at licensing sub-committee.

About You
The successful candidate will take pride in delivering a high-quality service both individually, and as part of a team.  The team has an interesting and varied caseload dealing with all areas of housing and civil litigation matters including the following:  
  • Housing possession, disrepair and ASB injunctions
  • Homelessness and allocations, judicial review, statutory appeals and public law challenges
  • Debt recovery
  • Contractual disputes
  • Property litigation, covering both residential and commercial property issues
  • Dispute resolution
  • The opportunity to advise licensing (sub)-committees
Candidates do not need to have of covering all of these areas only a specialism in one of Debt Recovery, Housing Disrepair, Homelessness Appeals and Judical Review, or General Civil Litigation is required. 

Applications are welcomed from newly qualified lawyers as well as experienced housing or civil litigation lawyers. The role is a career graded post encompassing grades G10, G11 and MG1 and internal applications for advancement to the next grade are usually considered on an annual basis. Details of the threshold criteria for the relevant grades are set out in the role profile.

Candidates from both the public and private sector are encouraged to apply for this position.  Full and part time working applications will be considered.  The role offers hybrid working from the office and at home.
