Employment Locum

Sellick Partnership is currently recruiting an experienced Locum Employment Lawyer on behalf of one of our long-standing clients for an initial 3-6 month assignment.

You will provide high-quality legal advice and representation to public sector clients, including local authorities and schools.

Duties will include:

  • Providing specialist, practical and commercially focused advice on contentious and non-contentious employment matters.
  • Managing a varied and complex caseload, including Employment Tribunal claims and wider litigation.
  • Undertaking advocacy and representing clients in tribunals, negotiations and meetings.
  • Advising senior officers, elected members, committees and schools where required.
  • Conducting legal research and providing clear, well-reasoned advice on complex issues.
  • Managing risk, instructing external counsel/solicitors where appropriate and ensuring effective case progression.
  • Delivering legal briefings and training to clients and contributing to service development.

Person specification:

We are looking for a qualified solicitor, barrister or Chartered Legal Executive with appropriate litigation and advocacy rights with strong experience within employment law.

Experience of working within a local authority or other public sector environment would be advantageous.

The client is open to both hybrid and full-remote working.
