The role:
As a Lawyer in Liverpool City Council, you will provide legal advice and representation in areas of law of relevance to the Council.
Within the role as a lawyer will have personal responsibility for a varied caseload, and act as a subject expert on regulatory and/or private sector housing matters to support the council’s regulatory, housing and environmental enforcement work and the selective licensing scheme, with appropriate support and supervision from a Senior Lawyer or Head of Law. The council is currently expanding its legal team to provide additional support in those areas and you will provide advocacy in courts and tribunals and may also act as legal advisor to council committees. We strongly encourage staff development, and you will have opportunity to experience other work within the team and wider service.
You will contribute to the supervision and development of Trainee Lawyers in the team and lead and develop Legal Assistants where required. The role of Lawyer reports to the Senior Lawyer for the discipline. You will work collaboratively within your team and the service to meet deadlines and achieve targets.
