Locum Newly Qualified Litigation & Prosecutions Lawyer – Full Time – London– £30 - £40 per hour Umbrella

Venn Group's specialist Public Sector Legal team are currently recruiting for a Locum Newly Qualified Litigation & Prosecutions Lawyer to join a well-established Local Authority in London on an interim basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified lawyer to gain broad Local Government litigation and prosecution experience, with a particular focus on education prosecutions and court advocacy.

Role Details:
Position: Locum Newly Qualified Litigation & Prosecutions Lawyer
Working Arrangement: Full Time, with office and court attendance as required
Duration: Initial interim contract, with potential for extension
Rate: £30 - £40 per hour Umbrella
DBS: DBS required
Duties may include:

• Managing a varied caseload of litigation and prosecution matters
• Handling education prosecution cases and other Local Authority enforcement work
• Conducting advocacy in court where appropriate
• Drafting legal documentation, correspondence and court papers
• Providing legal advice to officers and internal client departments
• Undertaking legal research and supporting senior lawyers on more complex matters
• Assisting with committee reports and providing legal input where required
• Attending meetings and advising on procedural and legal issues
• Liaising with courts, external solicitors and other public sector stakeholders
• Managing competing deadlines and progressing cases efficiently
• Supporting the wider legal team with additional litigation and prosecution work as required

Candidate Requirements:

• Newly qualified Solicitor, Barrister or CILEX Lawyer
• Current practising certificate and appropriate litigation practice rights
• Knowledge of litigation and prosecution procedure
• Understanding of Local Government and administrative law
• Previous relevant experience in litigation, prosecutions or regulatory work
• Ability to manage a varied caseload and meet competing deadlines
• Strong drafting, research and communication skills
• Ability to provide clear and concise legal advice
• Previous Local Authority experience would be advantageous
