Job Description:

Locum Property Lawyer

Our long-standing local authority client is looking to appoint an experienced commercial property lawyer to join its Legal Services team on an interim basis.

This is a varied role covering the Council's day-to-day commercial property work alongside residential property and housing-related matters. The successful candidate will provide pragmatic, commercially focused legal advice and be able to manage a broad caseload with minimal supervision.

The work will include a mixture of:

  • General commercial property transactions and advice.
  • Open space transfers and associated property matters.
  • Residential conveyancing, including Right to Buy transactions and buy-backs.
  • Property work relating to the Council's new homes programme.
  • Housing-related property matters.
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating leases, transfers, licences and other property documentation.
  • Providing practical legal advice to officers and internal stakeholders.
  • Managing a varied caseload and progressing matters efficiently to completion.

Person specification:

We are looking for a qualified lawyer with solid experience across commercial property and residential conveyancing.

You will ideally have experience of working within a local authority or other public-sector environment, although strong private-practice property lawyers with relevant experience will also be considered.

The client is ideally seeking attendance once a week or fortnight; however, fully remote working will also be considered.
