Locum Planning Lawyer – East Midlands – Part Time – Hybrid – Initial 3-6 Month Contract – Up to £57.50 per hour Umbrella
 
Venn Group's specialist Legal team are delighted to be recruiting for a Locum Planning Lawyer to join a public sector organisation in the East Midlands.
 
The successful candidate will provide specialist legal advice on a broad range of planning matters, managing a varied caseload and supporting the organisation with ongoing planning work. This role offers flexibility, with part-time hours and hybrid working available.
 
The role will involve attending Planning Committees once per month and providing high-quality legal advice to officers and stakeholders across a range of planning matters.
 
Duties may include:

• Managing a varied planning law caseload, including Section 106 agreements, planning advice, Unilateral Undertakings, enforcement matters and Certificates of Lawfulness
• Providing clear and pragmatic legal advice to planning officers and stakeholders
• Advising on complex planning matters and supporting decision-making processes
• Preparing for and attending Planning Committee meetings (approximately once per month)
• Working collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders

 
The ideal candidate will:

• Be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive with experience in Planning Law
• Have previous Public Sector or Local Authority experience
• Have experience advising on a range of planning matters, including S106 agreements and enforcement
• Be able to work independently and manage a busy caseload effectively

 
Key Details:

• Part Time hours – 2-3 days per week
• Hybrid working available – ideally 1 day per week in the office (not essential)
• Must attend Planning Committees once per month
• Initial 3-6 month contract, with potential for extension up to 18 months / LGR period
• Ideally available to start within the next few weeks
• Up to £57.50 per hour Umbrella
