Locum Planning Lawyer to join a public sector organisation in the East Midlands.
The successful candidate will provide specialist legal advice on a broad range of planning matters, managing a varied caseload and supporting the organisation with ongoing planning work. This role offers flexibility, with part-time hours and hybrid working available.
The role will involve attending
Planning Committees once per month and providing high-quality legal advice to officers and stakeholders across a range of planning matters.
Duties may include:- Managing a varied planning law caseload, including Section 106 agreements, planning advice, Unilateral Undertakings, enforcement matters and Certificates of Lawfulness
- Providing clear and pragmatic legal advice to planning officers and stakeholders
- Advising on complex planning matters and supporting decision-making processes
- Preparing for and attending Planning Committee meetings (approximately once per month)
- Working collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders
The ideal candidate will:
- Be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive with experience in Planning Law
- Have previous Public Sector or Local Authority experience
- Have experience advising on a range of planning matters, including S106 agreements and enforcement
- Be able to work independently and manage a busy caseload effectively
Key Details:
- Part Time hours – 2-3 days per week
- Hybrid working available – ideally 1 day per week in the office (not essential)
- Must attend Planning Committees once per month
- Initial 3-6 month contract, with potential for extension up to 18 months / LGR period
- Ideally available to start within the next few weeks
- Up to £57.50 per hour Umbrella
