Job Description:

Locum Commercial Property Lawyer – 3–4 Days per Week – Fully Remote – Initial 3 Months+ – £55-60 per hour Umbrella

Venn Group's specialist legal team are currently recruiting for an experienced Locum Commercial Property Lawyer to join a well-regarded Council in the Midlands on an interim basis. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive legal team handling a varied commercial property caseload.

The Role:

Position: Locum Commercial Property Lawyer
Working Arrangement: 3–4 days per week, fully remote with attendance required on the first day to collect IT equipment and complete the onboarding process in person
Duration: Initial 3-month contract with a strong likelihood of extension
Rate: £55-60 Umbrella
Start: 2-3 weeks time

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advising on the sale and purchase of commercial buildings

  • Handling the sale and purchase of land for development, including development agreements, option agreements and overage agreements

  • Drafting and negotiating agreements for lease and leases of whole and part of commercial properties

  • Preparing bespoke transfers of public open space

  • Drafting wayleaves and easements across multiple titles

  • Undertaking Land Registry searches and producing reports on complex titles

  • Completing SDLT returns for client approval

  • Managing complex Land Registry applications

Requirements:

  • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive

  • Significant experience handling a broad range of commercial property matters

  • Previous Local Authority experience is essential for this role

  • Ability to manage a varied caseload independently with minimal supervision

  • Availability to attend the Council's offices on the first day to complete the mandatory onboarding process and collect equipment
