Job Description:

Locum Principal Prosecutions & Licensing Lawyer – 3 months + – Full/Part Time – Predominantly Remote Working – Up to £75 per hour Umbrella – Midlands

Position: Locum Principal Prosecutions Lawyer
Organisation: Midlands based Local Authority
Duration: 3 months with the possibility of extension thereafter
Working Pattern: Full Time ideally, part time may be considered
Working Arrangement: Predominantly Remote, with Court & Licensing Committee attendance when required
Hourly Rate: Up to £75 per hour Umbrella
The ideal candidate will have at experience in handling Prosecution & Licensing matters in Local Authority.

Duties may include:
  • Conduct Criminal and Regulatory Prosecution work such as Health & Safety Investigations, Traveller Litigation, Injunctions and Licensing matters
  • Have confident advocacy skills and appear on behalf of his employers at Court and Licensing Committee’s
  • Conduct defence work regarding Department of Trade and Industry (Insolvency Act offences), Probation Services – Breaches of Community Orders, General Criminal Defence (trials advocate) in the Magistrates Court, Crown Court appeals against convictions and sentences, Crown Court interim applications, Crown Court proceedings – drafting brief/instructing Counsel
  • Managerial responsibilities are also a possibility within this role should this be something that a successful candidate would like to handle
