As a Team Leader, you’ll be part of the management team of a large Lexcel-accredited Legal Service and you will thrive on leading a group of dynamic and talented lawyers to deliver high quality legal services to the Council.

About youAs a Team Leader, you will bring to the role:
- Post-qualification experience as a qualified solicitor, barrister or FCILEx with a practising certificate in one or more of the following areas of law:
- Adult Social Care
- Anti-Social Behaviour
- Education
- Employment
- Licensing
- Prosecutions
- Strong management skills to maintain a high performing culture across the Section and the wider Service
- The communication skills necessary to develop and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders
- An ability to take a problem-solving approach to legal and/or local government challenges
- Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence to ensure your Team thrives and develops
About the roleAs our next Team Leader in the Licensing, Communities & Corporate Legal Section, you will play a key role in a number of ways. You will assist with the running and leadership of a diverse Legal Section, covering several areas of law which are essential to the wider Council: Adult Social Care, Anti-Social Behaviour, Education, Employment, Licensing and Prosecutions. You will be supported by the Section Head and work together with the other Team Leader in the Section. You will take the strategic lead on two or more of these areas alongside management responsibility for the lawyers and support staff within your areas. In addition to your management role you will undertake a case load of complex, high profile, interesting matters. This is an opportunity to get involved with issues that affect not only the Council but the entire city of Leeds.
The role is integral to our Legal Service. With the support of the other Team Leader and the Section Head you will all be collectively responsible for the Licensing, Communities & Corporate Legal Section and will have the opportunity to work alongside the other Team Leaders within the wider Service as a strong, supportive cohort of managers to support the Leadership and Senior Management Team.
