(Maternity Cover) – Locum Commercial Contracts & Procurement Lawyer – Full Time – Remote Working – Up to £60 per Hour Umbrella
 
Venn Group's specialist legal team is currently recruiting for a Locum Commercial Contracts & Procurement Lawyer to join a Local Authority on a maternity cover assignment. This is an excellent opportunity to support a busy, stable and collaborative legal team, undertaking a varied commercial contracts and procurement caseload with remote working.
 
The Role
Position: Locum Commercial Contracts Lawyer (Maternity Cover)
Working Arrangement: Full Time, remote working (with monthly office attendance desirable)
Contract Length: Likely 9 months +
Rate: Up to £60 per hour umbrella
Start: Short notice
 
Key Responsibilities

• Advising on a broad range of commercial contracts and procurement matters
• Providing legal advice on public procurements under the Procurement Act 2023 (PA23)
• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements
• Supporting officers throughout the procurement process, ensuring compliance with current legislation
• Advising internal stakeholders on contractual risk and governance matters
• Assisting with general commercial legal work as required by the Legal Services team

 
Candidate Requirements

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive (or equivalent) with experience in Commercial Contracts and Procurement Law
• Previous Local Government experience is essential
• Working knowledge of the Procurement Act 2023
• Strong drafting, negotiation and advisory skills
• Ability to manage a varied caseload independently and build effective working relationships with clients and colleagues
