Locum Commercial Contracts Lawyer – Combined Authority – Fully Remote Working – £60-65 per hour OUTSIDE IR35

Venn Group’s specialist Public Sector Legal team is currently recruiting for a Locum Commercial Lawyer to join a Combined Authority on an interim basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced commercial lawyer to support a busy legal team on a fully remote basis.

Role Details:
• Position: Locum Commercial Contracts Lawyer
• Working Arrangement: Fully Remote
• Duration: Initial 3–6 months with potential for extension
• Hours: Full or part time hours are acceptable
• Rate: £60–65 per hour (Inside or Outside IR35), with flexibility for the right candidate

Key Responsibilities:
• Managing a varied caseload of commercial and procurement matters
• Advising on subsidy control matters
• Drafting and negotiating framework agreements and call-off contracts
• Preparing and reviewing service agreements, memoranda of understanding and heads of terms
• Advising on grant agreements and consultancy agreements
• Providing clear and pragmatic legal advice to internal stakeholders
• Supporting officers and stakeholders across the organisation on a range of commercial projects

Candidate Requirements:
• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive (or equivalent)
• Strong experience in commercial contracts and procurement law
• Experience advising on subsidy control matters
• Previous public sector experience is highly desirable
• Confident managing a varied caseload independently
• Strong drafting, advisory and communication skills
