Job Description:

Locum Litigation Lawyer – 3 months + – Full/Part Time – Predominantly Remote Working – Up to £60 per hour Umbrella – Midlands
 
Position: Locum Litigation Lawyer
Organisation: Midlands based Local Authority
Duration: 3 months with the possibility of extension thereafter
Working Pattern: Full or Part Time hours can be considered
Working Arrangement: Predominantly Remote, with occasional Court attendance when required
Hourly Rate: Up to £60 per hour Umbrella
 
The ideal candidate will have at experience in handling Regulatory and Litigation matters in Local Authority.
 
Duties may include:
  • Managing and defending legal challenges in the High Court against the council’s housing decisions
  • Advising on Housing Law & ensuring council decisions (e.g., intentionality, priority need, suitability of accommodation) comply with legislation and case law
  • Preventing Litigation & conducting internal reviews of homelessness decisions to resolve cases before they go to court
  • Handling urgent matters regarding the duty to provide temporary accommodation while investigating homelessness applications
  • Overseeing the council's duties to homeless people, including the prevention duty, relief duty, and main housing
