Locum Planning Lawyer – East Midlands – Part Time – Primarily Remote Working – £60 per hour Umbrella Venn Group’s specialist Public Sector Legal team is currently recruiting for a Locum Planning Lawyer to join a reputable Local Authority in the Midlands on an interim basis, offering an excellent opportunity to support a busy and dynamic legal team.
Role Details:Position: Locum Planning Lawyer
Working Arrangement: Part Time (2 days per week), primarily remote working with committee attendance required every 4–6 weeks
Duration: Initial contract with the possibility for extension
Rate: £60 per hour Umbrella
Key Responsibilities:- Advising on a range of planning matters including Section 106, Section 278 and Section 38 agreements
- Handling Judicial Reviews and Certificates of Lawfulness
- Providing legal support to planning committees and attending committee meetings as required
- Drafting, negotiating and completing complex planning agreements
- Advising officers and stakeholders on planning legislation, case law and regulatory matters
- Supporting the wider legal team with general planning law matters as required
Candidate Requirements:
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive (or equivalent) with experience in Planning Law
- Previous experience working within Local Government or the Public Sector is highly desirable
- Strong experience handling planning agreements and contentious planning matters
