Commercial Contracts & Procurement Locum

Remote working

£55 - £65ph + DOE

We are seeking an experienced Contracts & Procurement Locum to join one of our Local Authority in-house Legal Services teams. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated lawyer to work at the heart of local government, advising on high-profile projects that directly impact our communities.

The successful applicant will join a busy but friendly team on an ongoing/long-term basis.

As our Contracts & Procurement Lawyer, you will:

  • Provide expert legal advice on a broad range of commercial contracts and procurement matters.
  • Advice on compliance with the Procurement Act 2023, public procurement regulations, subsidy control, and wider public law considerations
  • Draft, negotiate, and review a variety of agreements, including: service contracts, framework agreements, collaboration agreements, grant funding agreements and supply contracts
  • Work closely with senior officers, elected members, and external stakeholders to deliver strategic objectives
  • Manage a varied caseload with autonomy while contributing to wider legal team priorities

We are looking for a qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive with significant post-qualification experience in contracts and procurement law; ideally gained within the public sector.
