Locum Property Lawyer – South East based Council – Full Time – Initial 3+ months – Up to £60 per hour
Venn Group’s specialist legal team are currently recruiting for a Locum Property Lawyer to join a South East based Local Authority on an interim basis. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a supportive Council on a varied caseload across commercial and residential property matters.
Role Details:

• Working Arrangement: Full-time, with ideally weekly office attendance
• Rate: Up to £60 per hour
• Duration: Initial 3 months with likely extension
• Start: As soon as possible

Role Responsibilities:

• Managing property law matters including commercial and residential transactions, leases, rights of way, easements, wayleaves, and sales and disposals including Right to Buy work
• Drafting, reviewing, and advising on all associated legal documentation
• Providing clear, practical advice to officers and members, including attendance at committee meetings
• Supporting junior team members as required and liaising with internal departments and external stakeholders
• Ensuring work is delivered to high standards, providing value for money, and supporting the Council’s wider objectives

Candidate Requirements:

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Legal Executive (or equivalent) with experience in Local Government Property Law
• Ability to manage own caseload independently while providing structured updates to stakeholders
• Strong drafting, advocacy, and communication skills
