Locum Commercial Lawyer – Remote Working – Full-time or Part-time – Initial 3 months + – Up to £55 per hour umbrella
Venn Group’s specialist legal team are currently recruiting for a Locum Commercial Lawyer to join a Local Authority in the East Midlands on an interim basis. This is an excellent opportunity to gain further experience within an established Local Authority.
Role Details
Working Arrangement: Full-time or part-time, remote working
Rate: Up to £55 per hour umbrella
Start: As soon as possible
Role Responsibilities:
  • Drafting and negotiating a wide range of public sector contracts, including contracts for the provision of goods and services, framework agreements, MOUs, SLAs, call offs, public health and social care agreements, concession contracts and grant funding arrangements.
  • Reviewing and advising on supplier terms and conditions to ensure alignment with the Council’s requirements.
  • Advising on procurement processes under PCR 2015, the Procurement Act 2023
  • Drafting and advising on contract extensions, variations and termination letters as part of ongoing contract lifecycle management.
  • Supporting construction matters using JCT 2016/2024 suite of documents for a range of capital projects, working closely with internal and external project managers; and prepare parent company guarantees, sub-contractor agreements and collateral warranties to support project delivery and strengthen contractual protections.
  • Advising on matters where internal processes have not been correctly applied, setting out practical solutions to regularise decisions and reduce the risk of challenge or reputational impact. 
 
Candidate Requirements:
• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive (or equivalent) with experience in Commercial Law
• Experience within Local Government or the public sector is highly desirable
• Ability to work independently and manage a caseload of commercial matters
• Strong drafting and advocacy skills are advantageous
