Job Description:

Part Time Adult Safeguarding Lawyer

Cheshire West and Chester (Local Authority role)

Initial 3-6 month contract

Hourly rate negotiable

 

29.6 hours per week (4 days per week)

 

Adult Safeguarding lawyer post with requirements for knowledge of COP / MCA / MHA

  1. Deliver high quality legal advice and services on a variety of complex matters to Directors, Heads of Service and their staff, including where appropriate drafting contracts and legal agreements, to ensure that policy is formulated and operational decisions are taken on a sound legal basis.
  2. Undertake negotiations in order to protect and further the objectives of the Council, and where necessary undertake complex legal work.
  3. Participate in project teams to ensure the achievement of the Councils objectives and the delivery of high quality legal advice and services to client Services and Departments.
  4. Identify, research and anticipate the effects on service provision of new developments in the law to ensure that clients are able to adopt best practice in the delivery of timely and responsive services.
  5. Provide legal and procedural advice to Members and training to Members and client Services and Departments to ensure that policy and operational decisions are taken in the most beneficial and effective manner
  6.  To deliver (under the supervision of more senior staff) training for Members, Services, Directorates and staff.

  7. To contribute to the implementation of performance management systems.
