Locum Childcare Lawyer – South West – Full Time – £55 per hour Umbrella
Venn Group’s Public Sector Legal team are currently recruiting capable candidates to join a Local Authority as a Locum Childcare Lawyer in the South West.
Expected duration: 3 months initially with a possible further extension
Skill level: Qualified Lawyer (Solicitors, Barristers and highly experienced CILEX professionals holding litigation rights)
Predominantly remote working – the ability to attend court and conduct advocacy on-site is highly desirable
Full time ideally, will consider candidates who can provide 4 days per week
- Advising at LPM and PLO meetings
- Advising client departments on complex issues concerning Childcare law
- Providing Childcare Public Law advice and undertake all aspects of Care Proceedings work
- Attending and advise at meetings attended by professionals, particularly Legal Planning Meetings and PLO meetings and other similar meetings as directed by the Principal Lawyer and/or Assistant Chief Legal Officer
- Conducting advocacy in Magistrates Court, County Court and High Court when required
- Maintaining an awareness of all relevant legislation, policy and regulations related to childcare matter
- Investigating and advising on implications of changing legislation, case law and codes of practice and policy and provide briefing notes and training for colleagues and client officers
This is a position ideally looking for those who have existing experience of working within Local Government who is able to handle a busy caseload of Childcare matters alongside conducting their own advocacy and attending court hearings when required with professional experience gained within Local Government
An attractive hourly rate of up to £55 Umbrella is offered for this position dependent on experience.
