Interim Head of Legal – Local Authority (South West)

£600 per day | Rolling Contract | Long-Term Potential | Hybrid Working

We are working with a Local Authority in the South West who are seeking an experienced Locum Head of Legal to provide senior leadership and operational oversight across legal services.

This is a key interim appointment with a high likelihood of extension, offering stability, senior exposure, and strategic influence.

Key Details:

• Start: Within the next 4 weeks

• Contract: Initial 6 months, rolling thereafter

• Rate: £600 per day

• Working pattern: Hybrid / flexible

• Location: South West England

Key Responsibilities:

• Leading and managing the Legal Services function

• Strategic oversight of legal risk and service delivery

• Advising senior stakeholders, Members, and Directors

• Managing and supporting a multi-disciplinary legal team

About You:

• Experienced Head of Legal / Principal Lawyer / Legal Services Manager within local government

• Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills

• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced public sector environment
