Job Description:

Senior Solicitor (Litigation)

Runnymede (Local Authority role)

6 month contract initially

Hourly rate negotiable

 

The position is advertised at 32 hours per week, though hours as low as 26 hours per week could be accommodated.

 

1 or 2 days per week in office attendance is required, the remaining days worked can be remote.

 

  1. o provide legal advice and services in respect of work falling with the remit of the section The main function of the role is to work autonomously on complex civil litigation work including planning enforcement,  property litigation, contract disputes, housing litigation,  judicial review, commercial litigation, employment matters and associated areas. both pre and post litigation and other related work as required, including: 

  2. Preparation of all aspects of cases 

  3. Representation of the Council including advocacy as required in the Magistrates, County and High Courts, Tribunals, Inquiries and representing management at internal appeals. 

    The areas of work will vary according to the needs of the service.

  4. To ensure work is carried out by the team in accordance with council policies and procedure, and to maximum effectiveness and efficiency. to provide advice, transactional work and drafting for commercial property matters (Wayleaves, Easements, Leases, Lease renewals, Management Work, Disposal etc), Open Spaces, community assets and some Housing matters (Right to Buy, Shared Ownership, Acquisition, Lease Extension etc) and issuing the First Homes Scheme certifications.
    Drafting legal implications in Committee reports pertaining to properties.
