Location: Hybrid (homeworking with attendance as required in Solihull and Birmingham, including Birmingham Family Court and surrounding areas)
Solihull Council is seeking an experienced and dedicated lawyer to join our Adult Social Care legal team. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a successful and well-respected legal service making a real difference in the lives of vulnerable adults in Solihull.
As an Adult Social Care Solicitor, you will provide high-quality legal advice on a wide range of matters relating to adult social care, including mental capacity, mental health, Court of Protection, Deprivation of Liberty safeguards (DoLS/LPS), and safeguarding adults.
You will:
- Deliver clear, solution-focused legal advice on adult social care law and related issues
- Conduct and manage cases in the Court of Protection and other relevant forums
- Support client departments in managing legal risk and ensuring compliance
- Advocate where appropriate and represent the Council’s interests robustly
What We’re Looking For
We welcome applications from Qualified Solicitors, Barristers, or Fellows of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives with practising rights.
You should have:
- A thorough understanding of the relevant legal frameworks (Care Act 2014/Mental Capacity Act 2005, etc.)
- Practical experience of conducting cases and providing strategic legal advice
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills
- A client-focused, proactive, and collaborative working style

We support hybrid working arrangements. This role is primarily home-based with required attendance at offices in Solihull and Birmingham, including courts and meetings as needed.
