Commercial Paralegal – Hybrid | 3–6 Month Contract

Location: Hybrid working - 3 days per week (minimum 1 day per week in the office)
Contract Length: 3–6 months
Rate: Up to £30 per hour (Umbrella)

Venn Group is currently working with a well-regarded public sector organisation in the Midlands who are seeking a Commercial Paralegal to join their legal team on an interim basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced paralegal to gain exposure to a broad range of commercial and procurement-related matters within a supportive legal service.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will support solicitors across a wide variety of commercial legal matters, including:
Contract Support: Drafting, reviewing and collating commercial contracts, deeds, grant agreements and associated documentation, arranging signatures and completion
Procurement: Assisting solicitors with public procurement exercises
Due Diligence & Research: Conducting legal research, document comparisons, maintaining trackers and undertaking due diligence (including company searches)
Case Management: Supporting solicitors with file opening and closing, reviewing cases, responding to general enquiries, document and index management, bundling, redaction and version control
FoIA: Assisting with Freedom of Information requests
Practice Management: Providing support to help maintain the service’s LEXCEL accreditation

Candidate Requirements
Applicants should be able to demonstrate:
Public Sector Experience
Experience undertaking pre- and post-completion commercial transaction work
Familiarity with UK public procurement (desirable)
A working knowledge of GDPR and data protection
Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and document management systems
Strong organisational, communication and teamwork skills
The ability to work to tight deadlines with minimal supervision
