Job Description:

Senior Lawyer (Housing)

Manchester (Local Authority role)

Contract role - Initially until October 2026

Rate: Negotiable, indicate rate sought

 

35 hours per week, hybrid working arrangement

  • Must have a practising certificate
  • Role includes housing disrepair and rent possession work. 

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Manage a case load with minimum supervision.
  2. Conduct proceedings and act as an advocate in the County Court and Magistrates' Court dealing with most aspects of social housing law, including Anti-social Behaviour injunction applications, claims for possession, housing disrepair, and estate management issues.
  3. Act a legal adviser to Council departments and other providers of social housing, providing high level, high quality legal advice on housing law issues.
