Locum Commercial Lawyer – Up to £65 per hour Umbrella – 3+ Months – Remote Working

Venn Group’s specialist legal team are currently working with a well-regarded public sector organisation seeking an experienced Locum Commercial Lawyer to join their team on an interim basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for a confident lawyer with strong commercial and procurement expertise to support a busy team working on high-value contracts and complex projects.

Role Overview:

• Position: Locum Commercial Lawyer

• Rate: Up to £65 per hour Umbrella

• Duration: Initial 3 months, with the possibility for extension

• Location: Fully remote working (occasional office presence desirable)

• Hours: Full time preferred (flexibility considered)

Key Responsibilities:

• Draft, review, and negotiate a range of commercial contracts, ensuring compliance with organisational and legislative requirements

• Advise on procurement strategy and documentation, supporting colleagues on the practical application of the Procurement Act 2023

• Provide expert guidance on subsidy control and related public sector governance issues

• Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to deliver pragmatic, solutions-focused legal advice

About You:

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive (CILEx)

• Extensive experience advising on commercial, procurement, and subsidy control matters

• Public sector background desirable but not essential

• Strong drafting, analytical, and communication skills
