Locum Planning and Highways Lawyer – Full Time – £55–£60 per hour umbrella – Hybrid Working – Initial 6 months – Midlands
Venn Group’s specialist Legal team are currently recruiting for a Locum Planning and Highways Lawyer to join a Local Authority on an initial 6-month assignment. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Planning and Highways Lawyer to join a reputable and friendly Local Authority.
The Role:
Position: Locum Planning and Highways Lawyer
Duration: Initial 6 months with the possibility for extension
Rate: £55–£60 per hour umbrella
Working Pattern: Full Time
Onsite Requirement: Weekly office attendance on a Wednesday preferred, but not essential, and monthly planning committee attendance in the Midlands
Key Responsibilities:
• Drafting, negotiating, and advising on Section 106 agreements
• Advising on Highways Agreements, including Section 38 and Section 278 agreements
• Providing legal advice and guidance on planning, highways, and related matters
• Supporting internal departments and stakeholders with complex planning and highways queries
Ideal Candidate:
• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive with recent local government or public sector experience
• Strong working knowledge of planning and highways law, including S106, S38, and S278 agreements
• Ability to attend monthly Planning Committees in the Midlands
• Excellent drafting, advisory, and communication skills
