Locum Criminal Litigation Lawyer – East Midlands – up to £60 per hour Umbrella– once a week office / court attendance - Full timeVenn Group is working with a brilliant Local Authority in the East Midlands in their search for a
Criminal Litigation Lawyer on a
locum basis for an initial 3 month period.
Requirements:- A valid practising certificate in England as a Solicitor or Barrister
- Specialism within Criminal Litigation and prosecutions and evidence of practising this post-qualification
- Experience working within local authorities, or for a public sector organisation

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Possess an expert knowledge and understanding of law and legislation relating to criminal litigation
- Provide advice on litigious matters surrounding prosecutions
- Advocate effectively on behalf of the Council before courts, tribunals and other bodies
- Train and mentor junior lawyers / paralegals as appropriate
- Representing the Council in criminal prosecutions and other proceedings in the Magistrates' Court, as well as proceedings involving the Council before the First Tier Tribunal (Property Chamber)
- Attend Licensing committees as required and advising panel members.
- Advising client departments, primarily regulatory enforcement areas
