Job Description:

Interim Information Governance Officer 
 
3 months initial contract
Rate – up to £300 per day umbrella
Public Sector | South Wales
Mostly Remote Working (office attendance ideally once per week)

We are supporting a public sector organisation in South Wales in their search for an Interim Information Governance Officer to join their team in the New Year. They are seeking an experienced Information Governance Officer to provide support across information rights and GDPR-related activity.  This is a 3-month initial contract, starting in the New Year, with interviews scheduled for Monday 22nd December.

The Role:
The successful contractor will support a backlog of information rights matters and assist with core information governance activities.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Managing and responding to Data Subject Access Requests and Freedom of Information requests
  • Handling complex cases involving financial information, contracts and organisational change
  • Applying appropriate exemptions and refusal criteria in line with legislation and guidance
  • Exercising judgement around commercial sensitivity and potential harm arising from disclosure
  • Maintaining and updating Records of Processing Activities (RoPA)
About You:
  • Proven experience handling FOI and DSARs, ideally within the public sector
  • Good working knowledge of GDPR and information governance frameworks
  • Comfortable applying exemptions and managing sensitive information
  • Backgrounds may include information governance, data protection, compliance or legal
    (no specific qualification required)
  • Able to work independently and deliver at pace
