Information Governance Officer – 6+ Month Contract – Full Time - Remote/Hybrid – Rate DOE
 
Venn Group’s specialist legal team are currently recruiting for an experienced Information Governance Officer to join a Local Authority on an initial 6-month contract. This role offers full-time hours and the flexibility of remote or hybrid working, and it is a great opportunity to join a friendly and welcoming Local Authority.
 
The Role:
Position: Locum Information Governance Officer
Duration: Initial 6+ months with the possibility for extension
Rate: Dependent on Experience
Working Pattern: Full Time
Location: Remote working or Office Presence is available, subject to appointed candidates’ preference
Start Date: As soon as possible
 
Role Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will support the Council’s Information Governance function, with duties including:
  • Managing and responding to Freedom of Information (FOI) requests in line with statutory deadlines
  • Applying relevant FOI exemptions where appropriate
  • Supporting on matters relating to the Data Protection Act as required
  • Assisting the Council in meeting expectations set by the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO)
  • Ensuring compliance across the organisation and providing advice to services where necessary
 
Candidate Requirements:
  • Proven experience working within Information Governance in a Local Government or public sector environment
  • Strong understanding of FOI legislation, exemptions, and statutory requirements
  • Ability to manage a high-volume caseload and work independently
  • Excellent written communication and stakeholder engagement skills
