£750+ per day (umbrella)

A unique opportunity has arisen to serve as Interim Monitoring Officer for a newly established Combined Authority in the South East. The role will be for up to 12 months and the successful candidate will lead on the legal, governance and compliance function of the newly created Combined Authority so is a great opportunity to aid an organisation in setting up their governance frameworks and constitution.
Key Responsibilities:
Act as the statutory Monitoring Officer, ensuring compliance with governance frameworks, statutory duties, and ethical standards.
Provide senior legal advice as the principal legal adviser to the Combined Authority.
Lead development, implementation, and maintenance of the governance model, constitution, and regulatory frameworks.
Oversee procurement policy, legal risk management, and compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
Candidate Profile:
- The ideal candidate will have previous experience as a Monitoring Officer within a local authority or combined authority setting.
- You will have a strong background advising on constitutional and governance matters, including developing and maintaining governance frameworks.
- Experience managing complex statutory responsibilities and providing legal and ethical oversight is essential.

Role is based in the South East of England, with convenient commuting options from London.
