Job Description:

£42,177 - £51,129 per annum

If you are a qualified legal professional looking to make a meaningful impact in local government, we have two opportunities for self-starting Lawyers to join our committed and forward-thinking Legal Services team. These roles offer the opportunity to work on wide-ranging, complex and high-value matters that shape our community and support our strategic ambitions.

The Property Lawyer role will manage non-contentious property transactions including land acquisitions, leases, and regeneration projects, while also advising on housing and development matters. Where external support is engaged, the Property Lawyer will coordinate their input. This role is ideal for someone with strong property law expertise and a pragmatic approach to supporting major infrastructure and regeneration initiatives.

The separate Lawyer role will manage a wide-ranging caseload focused on contracts, procurement, corporate law, and debt recovery, providing support and strategic advice to the full scope of Council services. This includes enforcement actions, statutory demands, and company secretarial duties for our wholly owned companies. You will also support wider governance and regulatory functions, contributing to the Council’s commercial and legal resilience. This role offers a wide variety, but you do not need to be an expert in all fields to apply. We will offer training and development opportunities to ensure you develop the skills needed to deliver across these portfolios.

For both roles you will be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive with a minimum of three years’ post-qualification experience. We are looking for professionals who are self-reliant, collaborative, and organised to deliver high-quality legal services in a fast-paced and evolving environment. If you ready to take on a new challenge we would love to hear from you.

Closing date: 1 December 2025
