The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Locum Disrepair Solicitor to join a Local Authority in the North West on a 6-month rolling contract.
You will be responsible for managing a varied caseload of housing disrepair matters, including both pre-litigated and litigated claims, ensuring that the council’s legal obligations are met and that cases are handled efficiently and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Handle a full caseload of housing disrepair claims on behalf of the local authority.
Provide clear, practical legal advice to housing and property teams.
Draft, review, and negotiate legal documentation, correspondence, and pleadings.
Liaise with internal departments, external solicitors, and counsel
Requirements
Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales).
Demonstrable experience in housing disrepair, civil litigation, or housing law within a local authority or public sector environment.
Strong advocacy and negotiation skills.
Ability to work independently and manage a busy caseload.
Up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and case law.
Contract Details
Length: Initial 6 months, with rolling extensions available.
Rate: Dependent on experience.
Start Date: Within the next 4 weeks.
