Litigation Solicitor
Dorset (Local Authority role)
Contract Type: Temporary (3 months initially)
Hourly Rate: Umbrella, negotiable
Hours: 37 hours per week
This role sits within Dorset Council’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution Team,
providing legal advice and representation in a range of contentious matters on behalf of
the Council.
What is the day-to-day of the role:
- Provide clear, accurate, and timely legal advice to Dorset Council services and officers on litigation and dispute resolution matters.
- Prepare and conduct litigation on behalf of the Council, including case management and advocacy where appropriate.
- Draft and review legal documents, statements, and correspondence related to litigation, enforcement, and dispute resolution.
- Advise on risk management, pre-action protocols, and settlement options.
- Represent the Council at court hearings, tribunals, and internal panels as required.
- Liaise with and instruct Counsel or external solicitors where appropriate.
- Monitor and advise on changes in legislation, case law, and legal procedure affecting the Council’s operations.
- Work collaboratively within the Legal Services team and contribute to knowledge sharing, training, and professional development initiatives.
