Junior Democratic Services Officer – Local Authority – £18 to £20 per hour (Umbrella) – Hybrid Working – Initial 6–9 months
 

Venn Group’s specialist Legal and Governance team are currently working with a Local Authority in the East of England who are seeking a Junior Democratic Services Officer to join their Democratic Services team on an interim basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is interested in pursuing a career in Local Government democracy to receive training and guidance from a supportive Local Authority.

The Role:

  • Position: Junior Democratic Services Officer
  • Rate: £18 to £20 per hour (Umbrella)
  • Duration: Initial 6–9 months with the possibility of extension
  • Location: East of England / Hybrid Working
  • Hours: Full Time

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to the Council’s committees and meetings
  • Assist with the preparation and publication of agendas, minutes, and reports
  • Maintain accurate governance and decision-making records
  • Liaise professionally with Members, Officers, and the public
  • Support the smooth running of meetings, ensuring democratic processes are followed

About You:

  • Previous administrative experience within Local Government or a similar setting is desirable
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
  • Confident using Microsoft Office and willing to learn new systems
  • Enthusiastic and proactive with an interest in governance and the democratic process
