Locum Commercial & Procurement Lawyer
Hourly Rate: £60 per hour umbrella
Location: Yorkshire / Remote
Sector: Public Sector
Duration: 9+ Months
Working Arrangement: Full time

Reed Legal is working in partnership with a dynamic and forward-thinking public sector organisation in Yorkshire to recruit a Locum Commercial and Procurement Lawyer for a long-term assignment. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-impact regional projects while enjoying the flexibility of remote working.
 
The Role
You’ll be joining a collaborative legal team, providing expert advice on a wide range of commercial and procurement matters. The work is varied and stimulating, involving major infrastructure, regeneration, and technology projects.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Drafting complex, high-value commercial contracts across sectors including construction, transport, IT, energy, and consultancy
  • Advising on public procurement regulations and ensuring compliance with statutory frameworks
  • Supporting contract dispute resolution and risk management
  • Working closely with commercial teams to shape procurement strategies
Candidate Profile
We’re seeking a qualified solicitor or legal executive with:
  • 5+ years PQE in commercial contracts and procurement law
  • Experience in the public sector is desirable, but candidates from private practice with relevant expertise are encouraged to apply
  • Strong drafting and advisory skills, with the ability to manage complex legal issues
